Riccabona eSolutions e.U. [short: Riccabona.IT] was founded in March 2004 as "Riccabona eSolutions, Company Clemens Riccabona".
From the very beginning, the aim was to offer our customers IT services with a focus on web development. TYPO3 as a content management system was involved from the very beginning. We have subsequently developed our TYPO3 worry-free packages around this ecosystem, for example, and as a full-service Internet agency we offer our customers all services related to their own website, from domain registration and hosting to search engine optimization and advice on marketing on the web, whether small, medium or large, from the "standard business website" for small and medium-sized companies to integrated solutions for your extensive web applications for the presentation of your products and services with links to your systems via interfaces, development of innovative platforms and sales platforms for your products and services.
In 2019, we were entered in the commercial register and have been operating under the name Riccabona eSolutions e.U. ever since.
After more than 20 years of independent business activity in this industry, we have seen almost nothing yet. Our founder, Clemens Riccabona, is not only a "TYPO3 veteran" since version 3.5, but also has a wealth of knowledge from two browser wars (Netscape vs. Internet Explorer and Internet Explorer vs. Firefox).
Our goal from the outset was to develop sustainable solutions. A new website every 2 years? That's not our style! Together with our customers, we try to continuously develop their web applications, a particular challenge in the rapidly evolving IT sector. That's why we avoid "zeitgeisty marketing scams" and try to implement designs that are as timeless as possible, and when it comes to the technologies we use, we rely on tried and tested technologies that we believe have the potential to accompany us for many years, such as TYPO3 as our core competence, which has served us faithfully for over two decades and continues to set new technological standards.
We are particularly proud of the fact that we have a solid customer base, some of whom have been with us from day one and are also interested in long-term cooperation. This brings a little stability to the rapidly changing world of information technology and web development.
The open source development concept has convinced us! It is faster, more transparent, more comprehensible and more secure. Open source means that the source code/program code is "open", i.e. available for everyone to see. This does not mean that open source software is automatically free. However, we often try to make do with FOSS, i.e. free open source software, and give back to the projects irregularly through donations or working time.
Riccabona eSolutions e.U. takes a very consistent approach to open source use. Founder Clemens was originally a real "Microsoft fanboy", as he says himself, with a certificate, subscriptions and all the trimmings, but the path towards open source was already foreseeable when the company was founded in 2004. Riccabona eSolutions e.U. has been a "Linux Only" company since 2014. We consistently use Linux distributions and derivatives as our operating system, always keeping an eye on optimization for the task at hand.
We also consistently follow this path for application software and web applications.
However, we also take the view that this approach is not appropriate for every company and every sector. Industry solutions in particular are often only available for a specific operating system or are optimized for one system. We therefore do not advise our customers "religiously", but rather "technology-agnostically", trying to draw up a transparent cost/benefit calculation that not only shows the purchase and commissioning, but also the ongoing operation, summarizing the "Total Cost of Ownership" TCO.
Data security and protection against destruction, falsification and loss has also been an important aspect from the very beginning. Our customers were at the forefront of the widespread roll-out of transport encryption via SSL/TLS from around the mid-2010s. We have also been using other proven technologies such as DNSSEC, SPF and, more recently, DKIM and DMARC for a number of years.
We also take a sustainable approach to the configuration of our web servers and have been trying to implement the requirements of security headers for some time now. For most customers, all this happens completely unnoticed in the background, without any TYPO3 worries.
